At one point in my life I had a correspondence with someone and at the end of each email we would put a list of ten things. I really like lists. Actually, I love lists. I adore lists. Lists are funny. Lists also make me accomplish things. However, sometimes I do not accomplish what my lists say for me to do and then I feel guilty. This makes me hate lists. I guess I have a love/hate relationship with lists. Like my relationship with exercising. However, I am currently determined to get out of bed with a spring in my step. Watching movies like Julia and Julia makes me motivated for life. I am rambling. Blogging may not be my deal. I cannot even blog daily. That is kind of like a list because days are consecutive like things on a list. Maybe I actually do not like lists... hmm...
Anyways...
Back to lists.
The best thing about lists is they absolutely have to have no purpose at all.
1. Shredded wheat and Nutella.
2. Swimming 2 miles.
3. Silly Puppies.
4. Compliments.
5. Close Friends.
6. Peanut Butter
7. Aspics... (does anyone even know what those are?)
8. Exercise
9. Personal Growth
10. Emotional Break-downs.
See... that list had no purpose. At all.
But here is one... that does have a purpose. These are the 10 things I am most excited about this summer...
10. Wedding Shower
9. Catching up with old friends.
8. My own apartment.
7. Swimming.
6. Exercising
5. Visiting family
4. Reading
3. My first archaeological dig.
2.Peru and the Amazon.
1. Seeing my brother, Garrett, graduate from basic training.
It is going to be a great summer!
The Sempiternal Sitcom
My life is a sitcom; too much for one person to handle. It never ends and is exceedingly hilarious. This is my journey from despair to hope and joy and all of the quirks along the way.

When Suffering Became Personal: Part 1
A few things before I get started:
1) This blog is not my theology
2) This is real life.
I am not here to answer why people suffer or why bad things happen to good people. I am just going to share my story. This story will take several posts. It is long, but will have a good ending (hopefully, this summer!). For all of this to make sense, I thought that it was neccessary to give a little background.
I attended Ouachita Baptist University from 2007-2010. During the spring of 2008, the first thing that I had to get up for was chapel. If you have been to OBU, you know that this is the absolute worst reason to get out of bed! However, it is required for graduation. Deep down, I think the school is trying to teach endurance or perseverance or patience or something, because Lord knows that the sketchy, at best, theology that generally happens between the hours of 10 and 11 on Tuesday morning is not something we are actually going to use in our life. (Disclaimer: There have been a few good chapels out there, but the majority are pretty rough!)
Bottom Line: It is hard to get up for chapel, but with only four excused skips, it is a neccessary evil.
On this particular Tuesday morning, something terrible happened when my alarm went off. I had the worst stomach pain I have ever experienced in my entire life. I thought maybe something had just gone terribly wrong with the cafe food, so I headed to the bathroom. However, the pain only got worse and before I realized that I should attempt to save some dignity, I was screaming for anyone to come and help me because I was stuck... with... my... ummm... pants............down... on... the... toilet. I could not get up because the pain was excruciating. Finally, I crawled bare-bottomed to my room and managed to put my pants on and call my mom. My mother told me to go to the hospital because we were both pretty convinced that something was about to burst inside my stomach. I called a friend who graciously gave up one of her coveted chapel skips to take me to the emergency room.
A menagerie of tests took place while my mom was making the 5 hour trip in 3.5 hours. They determined that my appendix was not bursting and they could not see anything wrong with me at all. I was a medical anomaly. They did put me on a clear liquid diet, which made eating a Cracker Barrel extremely difficult. My mom kept me in a hotel room overnight for observation and since the pain was not entirely gone the next morning, we went to a bigger hospital. At this hospital, all they could determine was that there was something wrong with my female plumbing, but I should go to my own doctor to figure out what was wrong. My mom made an appointment for later that week and I returned to class in wonder concerning my mysterious pain that was now gone.
To be continued...

Tallie Jo
While the rest of the world was watching the Royal Wedding... so was I. (I was actually already awake because I was studying, but lets be real: I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN UP ANYWAYS!!!!) Princess Katherine was not the only "vision in white" to be in my life that day. A mere 12 hours after William and Kate said their vowels I became the proud mommy of this "Vision."
The "vision" became mine after a strange turn of events. I will number them and tell it like I know it, although I am sure the baby could do a better job.
1) The baby ended up at the Humane Society with her siblings, where she was spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped.
2)She was adopted with her sister by a younger couple who decided that she they were too much together.
3) She was adopted by a Bob and Ina of Arkansas. She was too much for them.
4) The baby was taken to the groomers.
5) The groomer called my grandmother because she has a bichon (pronounced BEEE-SHON), which is what we thought she was...
6) My grandma informed me.
7) After my final on Friday, I got in a car and went to get her.
While her story is quite large for someone so teeny weeny... it did not stop there... the next thing to be decided upon was a name....
Because her adoption date is the same as that of the Royal Wedding... I decided it should be somewhat British... She ended up with Tallie Jo.... which is derived from Talley Ho!
She weighs in at 6.2lbs and is mostly grown. She is some sort of Maltese mix. She enjoys running through the ditch and playing with her friends and toys. Tallie is an amazing puppy and I am so in love!

Books! Books! Books! (Did I mention books?)
So I have decided that I shall use the blog as my summer book review. I love to read. Love it. I plan to read at least one book a week this summer. The books will be from all genres. Warning: I rarely read a book that I do not like!
The only time that I will not be able to review my book is when I am in Peru, but I will definitely review when I am back.
The current read is: Thinking in Pictures by Temple Grandin.
Synopsis: This book is the perspective of life as an autistic by an autistic. A recent HBO film has been made about the life of Temple Grandin and it is a must watch. For those of you who do not know who Dr. Grandin is, she is worth looking up because she has made a major difference on the cattle industry today.
I am still in the middle of this book, but there will definitely be another post on this soon!
"When I get a little money, I buy books and if there is any left over I buy food and clothes." -Who said it?!?!
Not related to books at all, but the countdown to getting to see my brother is 22 days! I am so proud of my soldier!
Topics of posts to come: Tallie, my new bff! Smashing Sister-in-Law! and My warrior!

Puppies, Plagiarism, and Panzies
I got a new puppy. She is very cute. And sweet. And I am so far gone and in love it is not even funny. Her name is Tallie Jo Kate. Tallie for everyday... Tallie Jo when I feel like it and Tallie Jo Kate when she is in big trouble. Although, she has only pottied inside today. She does not even whine when she has to be put in her pen.
Plagiarism. I am writing a paper... the last for the semester and I am afraid of it. It is over archaeological theory, which I do not really understand and GRRRR! Enough said.
Panzies. Some people are just Panzies!

Paper Writing for Dummies
I have been writing papers for the vast majority of the past 5 years of my life. There are things that I should have learned long ago that I still struggle... for instance... Putting papers off until the last mintue results in all-nighters... endless stress... bad diction... bad syntax... sleep deprivation... poorly researched subject matter... creative procrastination... brain mush. Thus, paper writing for dummies can be summer up in a two sentences... Under no circumstance should any paper be put off until the last minute. Always start every paper early.
The End.

The Five Things I Want to Fix Right Now!
We all have those days... this was not really one of them, but there are five things that are annoying me that I just want to fix. (That way I can get back to writing my paper and stop blogging/complaining about it!)
1. Being sleepy. I have been so sleepy today and I do not know why! I slept eleven hours last night and this should not be happening to me! Unfortunately, the only way to fix that is to actually go to sleep, which will not happen until my paper is finished.
2. L-M. L-M is a friend that is mostly annoying me right now because this friend is not being a friend. Not even real sure why I called her a friend. Point is... I want to shake her and say, "DO YOU HONESTLY THINK THAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENED TO ONE OF US THE OTHER WOULD THINK THIS DRAMA WAS A GOOD IDEA? I am not claiming innocence, but come on! So much for a community!
3. Paper writing. I am almost finished... actually I am halfway through the first paragraph of a paper. The 4th of 5 I am supposed to write by Friday. At least it is all down hill from here!
4. Singleness... Not singlemindedness, but that does bother me... just not today. Sometimes, I want to be married. Today is one of those days. I actually am taking husband applications, so if you are interested just leave your resume and a personal statement that covers why you would make a good husband in the comments section.
5. Chocolate. Under no normal circumstances would I ever think I would be annoyed by chocolate. However, I am... All I want to do is eat it. Which is what it is there for... BUT Sugar is not good for those of us trying to be triathletes....
Really... I am not usually this negative. Of course... starting out a blog and then being completely annoyed in the first post probably is not the best idea... but it is what it is...
Embarrassing Moment of the Day... Tried to imitate Kendra from Dancing with the Stars while walking from the bathroom in what I thought was my empty work... nope... I definitely shimmied my way into the presence of an unsuspecting victim... :)
